Heather Kaye

Heather Kaye is a founder of The Leadership Sanctuary program for nonprofit leaders and President of Invision, LLC, a leadership development consulting and coaching company. Her expertise is working with nonprofit leaders and their organizations to build capacity.

In 2009 Heather created The Leadership Sanctuary because of the high rate of overwhelm, burnout and scarcity thinking she was seeing in her clients and across the sector. Her goal was to provide a forum for leaders from a mix of organization size, experience and issue area to come together in small groups to build a practice of resiliency, share case studies and develop a trusting community. In four years she has worked with at least100 leaders from the Greater Washington DC Region and won support from major foundations that focus on building a strong nonprofit sector.

Heather brings 30 years of experience working with and for nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and corporations to the table. Clients have included TED fellows, The Washington Area Women’s Foundation, Leadership America, WEAVE, Search for Common Ground, United Way, Cheetah Conservation Fund, AARP, Marriott, AT&T, Hewlett Packard and multiple government agencies. She is an accomplished facilitator with an ear for hearing what’s not said, tackling unexpected challenges and galvanizing teams behind over-arching goals. Through workshops, retreats, team facilitation and individual coaching, Heather has worked with leaders to foster employee engagement, help leaders realize their visions and transform plans into measurable results.

Heather is a certified member of the International Coach Federation and has served on the faculty for Newfield Network Coach School and Adjunct Professor for American University. She has written and produced numerous manuals and leader guides for over 10 training courses, facilitated more than 40 retreats and made presentations to numerous organizations. She coauthored “Awakening Purpose and Vision™,” a career development tool designed to help individuals uncover their life purpose.

Personally, Heather has served on several nonprofit boards and gives generously where she can. She is a graduate of Leadership Greater Washington’s class of 2011 and meets with leaders across the city and region to promote an agenda of support for those on the front line of social change and service. She lived the first half of her life in eastern Canada before moving to the US where she has lived in NYC, Chicago and WDC. She loves animals, visiting different cultures, glass fusing, movies, the arts, yoga and taking long walks with her partner David and her loyal puppies Rumi and Pacha.
