Tip 29: Observe More

What a beautiful time of year in our home city. The days grow longer, colors begin to pop out around us and warmer days beckon us outside. The next time you are on a walk, start by standing still. Take a few deep breathes, notice your posture, take a gentle stretch. As you walk, look closely—observe more. Take time to slow your step and notice a unique tree, or bed of flowers. Let you eye soak in the details of:

  • The budding flowers and leaves
  • The texture of the bark
  • The graceful arch of a branch
  • The variety of color
  • Interesting features, like lichen or moss

Mindful walking is a choice to be fully awake in the moment. It shifts our mental construct to being more aware, strengthens our concentration and connects us to the present moment and it's fun!
